Sacred Dance Class Expectations
Thursdays, 4pm at the church.
Sacred Dance is the act of prayer through music, movement and dance. It is a performing art and our tool with which we are able to spread the word of God. Each class begins with a warm-up, followed by some technique and then the choreography for the upcoming performances. Sacred Dance is a school year commitment with 4 definite opportunities to perform:
* The Christmas Concert in December
* Palm Sunday
* The Spring Concert in May
* Children's Sunday in June
At the director's discretion, in consultation with the parents, there may be additional performances as opportunities arise. Students and parents must make a commitment by being present each week and at all performances. This class and this ministry will not be able to sustain itself without the consistent support and participation of students and parents.
Dancers must be at least 6 years old (entering 1st grade). There is no fee for this class, but dancers will need to purchase a white Sacred Dance dress for $40.00 and a white camisole leotard to wear under their Sacred Dance dress for $15.00. Financial assistance is available upon request. (There may be times when we add to our costume and additional costs for materials may arise.)
